Steeping time: 24 to 48 hours (or simmered method)
Yield: About 4-6 servings
Ingredients
One garlic bulb with peeled and slightly crushed cloves
Two medium lemons, cleaned well and cut into rounds
One 2-inch piece of freshly peeled and sliced ginger root
Four glasses of filtered water (or, in more conventional versions, apple cider vinegar)
1 tablespoon of raw honey (optional; taste after steeping)
Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients: To release the active ingredients (allicin), peel the garlic cloves and gently smash them with the flat side of a knife. Cut the ginger and lemons thinly.
Combine in a Jar or Bottle: Fill a clean glass jar or bottle with the prepared garlic, lemon slices, and ginger.
Add Liquid: Cover the mixture with filtered water (or apple cider vinegar) until all of the ingredients are completely submerged.
Steep: To allow the flavors and qualities to seep into the beverage, seal the container and refrigerate for at least 24 to 48 hours.
Consume: As a wellness tonic, strain a tiny amount (typically in a small shot glass or diluted in warm water).
