Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
- 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips or chunks
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line large baking sheets or a large roasting tray with parchment paper or foil.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together on medium speed until smooth and creamy (about 2 minutes).
- Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix Dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula.
- Scoop and Bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
- Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
